Asia Comes To Melbourne

It was a few weeks later that Yukari arrived in Melbourne. We had kept in contact by text and email. If I thought direct communication was difficult, it was nothing compared to the difficulty by text. A couple of times I called her, but telephone communication was also very difficult.

I collected Yukari from the airport and took her to my home, showing her that she would have her own bedroom, and she would be comfortable staying with me and my flat mate Corey, and her son, Lucas.

Yukari enjoyed cooking so it was with delight that Corey accepted her into our home. Lucas, who was 4 years old and shy, was very sceptical about our new flat mate, and very little communication was attempted by him towards her. Yukari did attempt to converse with him.

Yukari's cooking was sometimes traditional, which was very good, but also sometimes experimental, which often caused Corey and myself to loot at each other rolling our eyes. These experimental meals were sometimes unedible, except for Yukari, she would always eat what she had prepared. The laughter continued through Yukari's stay in Melbourne. We had some great times and I was able to take her with me on some of my business trips to the country. As I was working, it was a way to show her the state of Victoria where I live.

To be continued.
